Philip Judson writes short stories, novels, poems, and plays for stage and radio.  His non-fiction writing includes scientific text books, software user manuals, and magazine articles.  He also composes music.
He lives in rural North Yorkshire not far from Harrogate, and has been there for over twenty-five years.  He grew up in South Derbyshire, studied in Manchester, and lived for some years on the Cambridgeshire/Essex border, dreaming of one day living in Yorkshire.

He was the first chairman of the Gay Outdoor Club and led expeditions to Nepal, Malawi, Russia, Australia, and New Zealand.  He was the convenor of their Caving Group and their Climbing Group.  He won gold and bronze medals in sport climbing at the Gay Games in New York and Amsterdam and he was a member of the first team to reach the summit of Che Bayul Kang, a mountain in Nepal.

He has a BSc in chemistry and a PhD in organic synthesis and he is a fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry.
